The Corey A. Hill Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to two deserving students at Nottingham High School in Syracuse, New York and one student at East Syracuse Minoa High School.
The designees of the scholarships at Nottingham and ESM should meet the following criteria:
- Proficient in the classroom
- Maintains good standing within their school
- Active in service to the community
- Must have plans to attend college
- Loyalty, leadership and other qualities Corey exemplified
At Nottingham, the scholarship winner will first be nominated by a coach or principal and is then chosen by the administration of Nottingham High School. The school will inform the Corey A. Hill Memorial Foundation whom they have designated for the honor and Corey’s parents will then award the winner of the scholarship at Nottingham’s awards ceremony. A plaque will also be hung in the school, which will show each year’s recipient of the Corey A. Hill Memorial Scholarship. Corey has a tree and brick in his honor in front of Nottingham High School – donated by his fellow Nottingham Class of 1999 alumni.
At East Syracuse Minoa, eligible candidates will be considered by the following factors: their application, GPA, a personal essay, and two recommendations. The foundation’s Board of Directors will then choose the most qualified candidate to receive the scholarship at ESM’s awards night.
All winners will be recognized at the Corey A. Hill Celebration of Life Event each year.
